THE UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY SEEKS ACADEMY PROFESSORS ACADEMY PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. The position is in the discipline of mechanical or aerospace engineering. Principal responsibilities of the position include academic leadership, teaching undergraduate courses in the respective discipline, supervision of faculty and academic programs, curriculum development, faculty development, service on faculty committees, and scholarship. Dedication to excellence in teaching is an absolute requirement of this position. The Army officer selected should have previous college-level or professional teaching experience. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related discipline; or hold a M.S. degree and be able to obtain a Ph.D. within three years of appointment. Applicants should demonstrate a high capacity for continued intellectual development beyond the Ph.D. Applicants must have a strong commitment to the educational, military, physical, and ethical development of cadets. Specific duties will include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics, operations research, and statistics; development and supervision of military and civilian faculty; leadership for academic programs, to include curriculum development; service on faculty committees; and scholarly research. The Army officer selected for this position should have previous professional teaching experience at the college/university level. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, operations research, statistics (or a closely related discipline) or hold a related master's level degree and be able to obtain a Ph.D. within three years of appointment. ACADEMY PROFESSOR IN THE CENTER FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF LEADER DEVELOPMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING. Principal duty is to lead research-and-development initiatives on leader development and organizational learning in the Army, with a specific focus on company-grade officers and cadets. Specific duties include: designing, developing, and leading the MilSpace online professional-development ecosystem, which includes the Company Command and Platoon Leader forums; supporting the curriculum at West Point by connecting it to the current experiences of Army officers; teaching and mentoring cadets; conceiving and assessing new approaches to leader development and organizational learning; growing and supporting teams of volunteers who participate in leading the initiatives; and securing and managing funding to support the initiatives. Operational deployment experience at the company level is required. Applicants should possess an earned Ph.D. in a Leadership, Organizational Learning, Knowledge Management, Learning Design, or related field at the time of appointment or be capable of completing a doctoral level degree in a relevant field within three years of selection.
