Information
The United States Military Academy Band is the oldest musical organization in the United States Army. Its primary mission is to provide musical support for the United States Corps of Cadets. The Military Academy Band performs a wide variety of commitments, including public concerts, ceremonies, chamber music recitals, recording sessions, and athletic events, and has performed at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Tanglewood and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. An assignment in the United States Military Academy Band is stabilized. Promotion to Staff Sergeant is awarded after completion of four months service. Jazz Vocalist Primary duties include performing with the Jazz Knights big band and combos in various jazz settings. Other performance requirements include singing popular, patriotic and other contemporary styles for dances, holiday events and military ceremonies. Interested applicants should send a resume, a recent full-length photograph and three copies of a high-quality CD or DVD not more than six months old. The recording should emphasize the applicant’s ability to sing in small and large group jazz settings. It should also demonstrate versatility in a variety of popular styles.

Baritone Saxophone -
Jazz Knights Interested applicants should send a resume, a recent full-length photograph, and three copies of a high-quality recording, preferably in CD format and not more than six months old. The recording should include examples of section playing, as well as examples of improvisation in a variety of tempos. At a minimum, this should include one up-tempo selection (250+ bpm), one medium swing/standard, and one ballad. Feel free to include other examples that best demonstrate your strengths. A live rhythm section is preferred, but “play-alongs” are minimally acceptable. Examples of doubling on bass clarinet and flute are required as well (i.e. section playing, etudes, etc.) Please edit your recording to remove extraneous portions of performances. The recording may also include examples that demonstrate proficiency in classical styles.
