BOARD OF VISITORS TO MEET IN WASH., D.C. – Feb. 4, 2010
WEST POINT, N.Y. –– The Board of Visitors of the U.S. Military Academy will meet Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m., in Room SVC 201/200 of the Capitol Visitors Center in Washington, D.C., to review and receive updates on the academy’s academic, physical and military programs.
This is the 2010 organizational meeting of the board at which members will discuss proposed meeting dates for the 2010 Spring Meeting and conduct elections for the 2010 Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson. Other topics of discussion will include updates on academy issues to include the following––Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Center of Excellence; Energy Costs and Initiatives; Wastewater Privatization; A–76 Commercial Activities, and Resources.
While the BOV meeting is a public venue, RSVP’s are requested for the general public in order to gain access to the meeting location. Those interested in attending, must contact Joy Pasquazi by Feb. 5 at joy.pasquazi@us.army.mil or 845-938-5087.
The Board of Visitors is appointed under the provision of Section 4355 of Title 10, United States Code. It is the duty of the Board to inquire about the academy’s morale and discipline, curriculum, instructions, physical equipment, fiscal affairs and academic methods. The board consists of presidential appointees and members of Congress.
Presidential appointees are John S. Rainey; Dr. Charles Younger; Karen Hughes; Frederick Malek and Randolph Brock III. The senators are Kay Bailey Hutchison; Jack Reed; Mary Landrieu and Richard M. Burr. Representatives include, Maurice Hinchey; Jim Marshall; John Hall, John Shimkus and Jerry Lewis.
