WEST POINT CADETS HOST RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT – April 26, 2010

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Over 600 cadets will participate in The Relay for Life event on May 1, from noon to 8 p.m. at Highland Falls Middle School.

The event celebrates those individuals who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost and helps fight cancer through fundraising efforts.

All 32-cadet companies will field a team with each team walking laps continuously throughout the day to symbolize that cancer never stops.

There will be food and many different activities throughout the day culminating in the Luminaria, where all participants will light candles to memorialize those who are battling or have been lost to cancer.

The keynote speaker for the event is Col. Maritza Ryan, head of the Department of Law, and cancer survivor.
