WEST POINT, N.Y. –The public is cordially invited to attend the U.S. Military Academy’s Class of 2010 commencement on Saturday, 10 a.m., at Michie Stadium where President Barack Obama will address more than 1,000 cadets who are expected to receive Bachelor of Science degrees and be commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. March on of the graduating class begins at 9:35 a.m.
In order to more efficiently process the public through security screening, tickets for general admission will be available on Thursday and Friday at the West Point Visitors Center from 9 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Adults will be provided up to four tickets per person. We strongly recommend picking up tickets prior to the event; however, a limited number will be available on Graduation Day at the public gates.
On Saturday, guests may enter the academy grounds at Stony Lonesome Gate off of Route 9W (preferred) or Thayer Gate located in the Village of Highland Falls. The public may enter the stadium beginning at 6:30 a.m. at Gates 6, 6A and 7. Access will be restricted at 9:30 a.m. Please plan to arrive early. Photo identification for those 16 years and older is required upon entering academy grounds and all vehicles are subject to search.
In order to expedite security checks, the following items are not permitted into the stadium: no weapons, bottles, cans, umbrellas, signs, food, backpacks, noise makers, laser pointers, coolers, large bags (except diaper bags), and animals (except service animals for the handicapped)
