CADET BOXING TEAM WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP – April 06, 2009

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Cadet Boxing team won their second consecutive team championship April 5 at the National Collegiate Boxing Association’s Collegiate Boxing Championships at the University of Maryland’s Ritchie Coliseum in College Park, Md.  

A dozen Army boxers competed at NCBA’s, nine made it as far as the semi-finals, eight of which made it to the finals and four who won national titles in their weight classes.

Two Army boxers were repeat winners – sophomore Danilo Garcia at 125-pounds who also captured the Most Outstanding Boxer trophy for participants under 147 pounds and junior Ryle Stous, at 156-pounds.  Stous won his second title in his second weight class.  He won at 165-pounds last year. 

Other champions were Army junior boxer Cedric Fraser, in the heavyweight category, and sophomore Terrell Anthony at 139-pounds.
