BRIAN STEIDLE TO SPEAK AT WEST POINT – May 1, 2007

                    WEST POINT, N.Y. – The U.S. Military Academy’s Department of History will host guest speaker Brian Steidle for an evening lecture scheduled Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. in room 144, Thayer Hall.
                    Steidle, a former U.S. Marine captain, is the author of The Devil Came on Horseback. His book captures an intense vivid report and call to action from the heart of violent Darfur while working as an unarmed military observer for the African Union. He will discuss his powerful memoir of a young man’s awakening to conscience and the first extensive on-the ground account of the genocide in Sudan. 
                    The lecture is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come-first served basis. Guests should be seated by 6:45 p.m.
