Mission

DPE Competitive Sports supports the mission of the United States Military Academy by providing cadet-athletes with exceptional educational and athletic opportunities for the purpose of developing leaders of character.

Outcome Goals

  • responsibility for their actions as it contributes to the welfare of the team, the development of the Warrior Ethos, and winning “the right way”.
  • demonstrate integrity during sport competition.
  • demonstrate sportsmanship by adhering to the highest standard of ethical conduct and fair play.
  • demonstrate servant leadership by demonstrating effective teamwork and by placing the needs of the team ahead of their own.
  • demonstrate health-related and skill-related components of physical fitness.

We aspire to reach our outcome goals through the following beliefs:

  • We regard athletics as integral to the mission and goals of the United States Military Academy.
  • We promote and teach the Army Values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage in all athletic endeavors.
  • We respect each cadet-athlete as an individual and his or her personal welfare is our highest priority.
  • We value health and safety as paramount to a successful program of Company Athletics, Club Sport Athletics, and Brigade Opens.
  • We are committed to providing coaches and sport educators who regard themselves first and foremost as teachers of character.
  • We view competition as the means to personal growth and the development of the Warrior Ethos.
  • We believe that teamwork should prevail in all interactions among cadets, coaches, sport educators, and administrators.
