Queens Boro CC Invit.
18-SEP-2011

The USMAPS Cross Country team traveled to Van Cortlandt Park to participate in the Queensborough Invitational. I am proud to say that the men's team finished first overall with 4 top-twenty performances in the 8k. CC Ludovick Funfrock finished first, CC Alex Duffy finished second, CC Michael Glasgow finished seventh, and CC Thomas Eisiminger finished nineteenth. In addition, CCs Alec Herrera, Matthew Mosher, Myles Morrone, and Gregory Merkel all gave a great effort as well.

For the women, CC Gabriela Anciola took home a medal for a top-twenty performance in the 5k and CC Kayla Long also put forth a very exceptional performance. Furthermore, I would also like to mention CC Tishae Rice’s heroic and unselfish effort. While racing, CC Rice witnessed another runner suffering from a severe asthma attack midway through the race. Far from help, CC Rice not only provided aid to the runner, but also, she assisted the runner’s teammate with carrying the injured runner to the finish. Although she was unable to run her race, CC Rice did something that the average runner would not have done. It is because of acts like this that make me proud to not only have CC Rice as a member of the team, but more importantly, as a CC at USMAPS. I feel she provides a spark amongst her classmates and has the potential to become an influential leader during her time at West Point.

College of Staten Island Invit.
9-OCT-2011

The Men's Cross Country team traveled to Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island, NY to participate in the College of Staten Island Invitational. First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to all the parents that came out to support their athletes. Overall, the men earned another first place team title, with CC Ludovic Funfrock finishing first out the seventy-three competitors. However, due to an issue with the 8k course, the placing of the other athletes is unofficial. Unfortunately, there was some confusion with the direction of the course, and as a result, many athletes ran the wrong route and some ran further than others. Therefore, the meet director scored the competition in the order that the athletes finished to limit any further problems. Despite the mishap, CCs Alex Duffy, Thomas Eisiminger, Michael Glasgow, Alec Herrera, Joshua McDonald, Gregory Merkel, Myles Morrone, and Matthew Mosher all gave a great effort to help bring the team to victory.

Navy Prep
14-OCT-2011

On Friday, October 14, 2011, the USMAPS Cross Country team had their first rivalry experience against the Naval Academy Prep School. For the women, USMAPS had a team of five females consisting of: CC's Gabriela Anciola, Jennifer Clay, Kayla Long, Tishae Rice, and Kiley Schreurs. Each female performed well and ran to the best of their ability. However, since USNAPS only ran with two women, the meet did not count towards scoring and declaring a winner. The top performer of the USMAPS team was CC Clay.

For the men, CC's Alex Duffy, Thomas Eisiminger, Ludovic Funfrock, Michael Glasgow, Alec Herrera, Joshua McDonald, Gregory Merkel, Myles Morrone, and Matthew Mosher all ran well and contributed to the first USMAPS/USNAPS victory of the year. Despite a standout runner taking first place on the USNAPS team, CC's Funfrock, Duffy, Glasgow, and Herrera earned the next four places respectively, which ultimately propelled the team to a 21/35 victory (lower score wins).
