Armory Collegiate Challenge

New  York City ---The Army Prep Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field team competed in the Armory Collegiate Challenge in New York City on Friday 25 February.  The meet provided the Prepsters with great competition across all events contested.  The overall experience gained at this meet is very valuable as the Black Knights  prepare for the upcoming outdoor season.  Below is the performance list from Friday’s meet:

60m- Sam Reid-8.27 (season best) Eliot Knotts-7.33 (season best). 200m- Sam Reid-27.01 (season best),  Katrina Donarski-27.62 (season best), Patrick Taylor-23.38,  Hayden Conrad-24.05. 400m- Katrina Donarski-1:01.60, Patrick Taylor-52.14, Hayden Conrad-54.02. 800m- Conor Kane-1:58.96 (season best), 60H- Willie Nelson-9.78, HJ- Shelbi Doehling-1.53m (season best), Jacob Drozd-1.93m (season best). LJ- Eliot Knotts-6.75m (season best)-5th place finish. WT- George Solujich-13.61m (season best)-6th place finish. SP- Austin Gorge-13.68m (season best)-8th place finish, George Solujich-13.64 (season best)-9th place finish, Todd McDonald-13.44 (season best)-10th place finish.

Next up for the Black Knights will be the Richard Stockton Invitational on 19 March.  That meet will be the season opener for the 2011 Outdoor season.  The Track and Field action will begin at 1000 hours in Pomona, NJ.  Thanks for your support of Army Track & Field!

 

 

 

NYU Gotham Cup

New York, NY -- The Army Prep Track and Field team competed in the annual NYU Gotham Cup at the famed Armory in NYC on 14 January.  The venue and competition are always at a high level and really great experience for the Prepsters.  For the Black Knight women Samantha  Reid turned in an excellent early season time of 8.29 in the 60m.  Katrina Donarski continues to impress in the 400m with a time of 1:01.14.  Kat will soon break the 60 second barrier and then some as our season progresses.  Shelbi Doehling took 12th place honors in the women’s HJ @ 4’ 11”.  Emily Speziale and Joey Olmedo threw the shot 24-11.25 and 23-04.50 respectively. 

 

The men were led by George Solujich’s 3rd place finish in the men’s unseeded shot with a toss of 44-01.25.  In the WT George had a toss of 38-06.00.  Todd McDonald threw the shot 38-02.00 and the WT 29-06.50.  Patrick Taylor turned in a solid early season time of 51.19 in the men’s 400m.  Conor Kane was very impressive in the 800m covering the 4 lapper in 1:59.66.  The 60H saw Willie Nelson run a 9.49 while Julian Cotto had a LJ of 17-7.  Eliot Knotts had a LJ of 20-10.75 in the men’s seeded division.  Eliot also turned in a time of 7.35 in the 60m.  Please check out all official results at www.armorytrack.com .

 

Crowell Open

West Point, NY -- The Army Prep Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams opened the 2011 Indoor season @ USMA on Saturday 8 January.  The Crowell Open (non scoring meet) had ten competing teams and, as always, it was excellent experience on the indoor circuit for the Black Knights. 

 

Highlight performances were turned in by Katrina Donarski (2nd 400m 1:03.07-7th 200m 28.05), Samantha Reid (6th 200m 27.61-9th 60m 8.36), Patrick Taylor (5th 400m 52.58),  Shelbi Doehling (4th HJ 4’11”-9th LJ 15’00”), Jacob Drozd (6th HJ 6’2.25”-10th SP 42’8”), Austin Gorge (9th SP 42’09.50”), George Solujich (11th SP 42’6”), Todd McDonald (12th SP 40’1.50”), and Eliot Knotts (3rd LJ 21’1.50”-6th TJ 39’10.50”).  Ben Sterett turned in an excellent performance in the men's 5000m covering the 25 lapper in 16:50.82
