MAJ Andrew Eck graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, commissioning as a 2LT in the Aviation Branch. After completing BOLC, SERE-C, and IERW he graduated from the UH-60A/M course in 2014. In December 2014 MAJ Eck was assigned to 2-2 Assault Helicopter Battalion (AHB) in K16 Seoul Airbase, Korea and moved overseas with his wife Kathryn. He first served for 12 months as Maintenance Platoon Leader in D/2-2 AHB and then 12 months as an Assault Platoon Leader in A/2-2 AHB, progressing to Pilot-in-Command and Air Mission Commander. Following graduation from the Aviation Captain’s Career Course and the Aviation Maintenance Officer Course in 2017, MAJ Eck was assigned to 1-25 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB) in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He served as Assistant Operations Officer for 4 months. MAJ Eck was reassigned to 1-52 General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB) and, after serving 5 months as Assistant Operations Officer, took command of A/1-52 GSAB. Over the next 24 months, he led the Tomahawks in providing air assault, air movement, and aerial mission command support in Alaska and across North America on 3 CTC rotations. After relinquishing command, MAJ Eck earned a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2022. His research centered around beneficial use of oil and gas wastewater. He currently serves as an Instructor in the Environmental Engineering Program where he teaches EV203 (Physical Geography) and EV350 (Environmental Engineering Technologies) and course directs EV388a (Physical Geology) and EV399a (Geology Field Course).
