MAJ Cameron Colby Senior Instructor American Division, Department Academic Counselor Digital History Center History cameron.colby [at] westpoint.edu About Education Research & Publications MAJ Cameron Colby grew up in Tualatin, Oregon, where the Pacific Northwest shaped his enthusiasm for history and the outdoors. Cameron received his bachelor’s degree in history from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho.Since commissioning in 2013 as a Field Artillery officer, Cameron marched in the infantry, rode in the cavalry, shot the artillery, and flew over the enemy. Hawaii’s 2nd and Alaska’s 4th Brigade of the 25th ID gave Cameron incredible opportunities to develop his craft as an Army officer and historian. Serving as a jungle Fire Support Officer in the 1-27th IN BN and platoon leader of an M119 platoon in 2-11 FAR comprised his years in the Field Artillery. Upon transitioning to Military Intelligence, Arctic Airborne intelligence requirements molded his experience as the 725th BSB and 40th CAV intelligence officer.Cameron arrived at West Point in 2022 with a master’s in Early American history from the University of Virginia and currently serves in the American History division. Cameron and his wife, Melissa, have two preschoolers, Clark and Coraline, who think their dad works at a castle and is still fighting 18th-century wars against the British.
