Dr. Kat Longshore Performance Enhancement Specialist Lecturer kathryn.longshore@westpoint.edu Biography Dr. Kat Longshore joined the Center for Enhanced Performance (CEP) in May 2020, as a Performance Enhancement Specialist and Lecturer. In the CEP, she works with cadets and corps-squad athletes to perform at their best when it matters most. Prior to joining the CEP, Dr. Longshore worked with athletes, teams, and coaches as a private practitioner, through her Mental Performance Coaching practice, MoniKat Coaching, LLC. During her over 10 years of mental performance coaching, Dr. Longshore has worked with National Teams, professional and elite athletes, and DI collegiate programs. From 2015 – 2020, in addition to consulting, she also served as a visiting assistant professor in the Psychology Department at Lafayette College, teaching a variety of courses, including Sport Psychology, Design and Analysis, Quantitative Methods, and Introduction to Psychology Lab. In 2015, Dr. Longshore earned her Ph.D. in Psychology of Human Movement from Temple University (Philadelphia, PA). The focus of her doctoral research was developing, implementing, and assessing a mindfulness training for coaches. She recognized a need for leaders to learn skills to manage stress, emotions, and the pressures of coaching, in order to perform their best on and off the field. In addition to her work on mindfulness with coaches, Dr. Longshore has published several papers and chapters on mindfulness and sport and exercise, including the seminal systematic review of mindfulness and performance in the sport psychology literature. Mindfulness continues to be one of Dr. Longshore’s major research, practice, and personal interests. Dr. Longshore earned her MSc. In 2009 in Sport Sciences, Sport Psychology Pathway from Brunel University (West London, UK). Following her MSc. she continued to live in England and completed the British Association of Sport & Exercise Sciences (BASES) 3-year Practitioner Accreditation in 2012. She earned her B.S. in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from Lafayette College (Easton, PA) in 2007, where she was a 4-year member, 2-year captain, of the Division I Softball Team.
