FAQs for Student Fellows

What is appropriate attire?

Most events: Business casual

Men: Typically slacks or khakis, dress shirt (optional tie), seasonal sport coat with loafers or dress shoes and matching belt.

Women: Slacks or khakis, blouse, dress or skirt at knee-length or below, a tailored blazer, knit shirt or sweater and shoes that cover all or mot of the foot.

Group Exercise (optional): Workout clothes and running shoes if you would like to join the morning group exercise (tailored to all abilities)

Thursday Night Dinner and Team Building Event: Casual with comfortable shoes

Friday and Saturday Night Dinner: business formal (suit and tie equivalent)

What is typical weather for West Point, New York during March?

The average high for March is 49 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is 30 degrees Fahrenheit. March typically receives 8 days of precipitation. It “can” snow during the conference. Check your favorite weather app for the forecast as the conference draws near.

Who should I contact if I have questions about MCLC 2020?

By now you should have received an email from the West Point Cadet assigned as your team leader for the conference.  In the case you have not, please contact Cadet Emma Powless at emma.powless@westpoint.edu and she will get you in touch with your assigned team leader.

Should you encounter any problems before or during the conference, please contact your assigned team leader for assistance.

 

FAQs for Senior Fellows

Who should I contact with questions?

Your assigned Senior Fellow Liaison.

When should I plan to arrive and depart and other travel related questions. 

Senior fellows should plan to arrive the evening of Thursday, 19 March.  The first event of the conference will be the Welcome Breakfast on Friday, 20 March, at 8:00am.  The last event of the conference will be the Farewell Alumni Breakfast on Saturday, 22 March, from 8:00-9:30am. 

Air Transportation: Airfare to and from a NYC-area airport will be provided at no expense to you. As a reminder in order to fund your travel, please fill out the attached Defense Travel Services Worksheet and return to your assigned liaison.  This will allow us to create you a profile and assist you with booking your travel.  If you are concerned about sharing certain financial information, feel free to encrypt your email response or provide the information of the phone.

Ground Transportation: West Point will provide a driver to pick you up from and drop you off at a NYC-area airport.  Once at West Point, transportation between venues will be provided during the conference.

What meals are included in during the conference?

Meals: All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be provided at no expense to you during the conference.

Do I need to make my own lodging accommodations?

Lodging: Accommodations will be provided at no expense to you at the historic Thayer Hotel (https://www.thethayerhotel.com/).  We have already made reservations for you.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No preparation is needed.  Our panel coordinator (Major Mark Erwin) will reach out to you in the spring with some materials to assist you with your panel.

No, you will be sleeping at the Thayer Hotel, on post.
