Biography
Captain Derrick Hall is an instructor in the Department of Chemistry and Life Sciences and teaches general chemistry. Upon graduating from West Point in 2014 with a B.S. degree in Chemistry, he commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Military Intelligence Corps. He then immediately attended Purdue University as a GEM Fellow to obtain a Master of Science degree in Chemistry. CPT Hall has served in several intelligence officer positions spanning from Battalion S2 in a Brigade Combat Team to Intelligence Planner in an Army Service Component Command G2 Directorate.
Ongoing Research Projects
Captain Hall’s graduate school research explored the use of essential trace elements as catalysts for decontamination of chemical warfare agents. His current research interests include military applications of green chemistry as well as detection and decontamination of chemical warfare agents.
