The Department of Chemistry and Life Science

Chemistry and Life Science is proud to announce the first ever certification of its Chemistry Program by the American Chemical Society. Cadet researchers demonstrate mesenchymal progenitor cells (MPCs) cultured 7 days on 50-100 nm collagen fiber substrates and a collagen-coated Petri Dish using immunofluorescence techniques for the proteins of interest. Cadets enrolled in General Chemistry II performing the course capstone lab on Tactical Energy Charge and Discharge Rates . Cadet researchers use an ultraviolet lamp source to aid in cutting DNA samples out of an agarose gel. The goal of the research is to develop a cheap, field-ready Vibrio cholerae biosensor system to test drinking water.

Science for Soldiers and Citizens

The Department of Chemistry and Life Science is responsible for teaching and research within the broad and exciting disciplines of chemistry, life science, and chemical engineering. Our faculty is keenly focused on providing a world-class undergraduate education and conducting state-of-the-art research in a wide array of sciences and engineering. Our broad undergraduate programs prepare cadets for a life-time of service to the Army and the Nation. Our Department emphasizes the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills both in the classroom and as cadets conduct original research in faculty laboratories; hence our motto: "Science for Soldiers and Citizens."
