Biography


Jennifer Bennett is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Innovation and Engineering. She holds a masters in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University. Prior to joining the West Point team, she spent seven years as an Advanced Solutions Engineer at DMG MORI where she developed turnkey additive and subtractive machine tool solutions for industry leaders including SpaceX, Toyota, and Boeing. 

Dr. Bennett's research focuses on additive manufacturing for defense applications, including optimizing materials for ballistic and hypersonic uses. She was awarded a Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) grant in 2023 and leads the AMBITION Laboratory. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes developing high-order thinkers through project-based learning and hands-on experiences. Dr. Bennett is committed to mentorship and increasing female representation in STEM. In 2021, she was recognized as one of SME's 30 Under 30 Manufacturing Innovators.
