Download Image Dr. Mark Evans Professor of Geotechnical Engineering mark.evans@westpoint.edu Biography Dr. Mark Evans is a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering in the Department of Civil & Mechanical Engineering at the United States Military Academy, West Point. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University, and a Master of Science, Master of Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Evans is a Registered Professional Engineer in NY State, and worked 6 years as a Professional Engineer in industry prior to teaching. Dr. Evans served as Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at West Point for 15 years and has been teaching (at the time of this writing) for 31 years. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), a Phi Kappa Phi member, and a member of the American Society for Engineering Education. Dr. Evans’ areas of research include liquefaction of gravelly soils and engineering education. He is Editor Emeritus for the ASCE Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice.
