MAJ Dan Vigeant is a native of Port Charlotte, FL. He enlisted in the Army in 2004 as a UH-60A/L Blackhawk Repairer. While enlisted, he deployed with the 82nd Airborne in support of Operation Enduring Freedom VIII as a UH-60L crew chief. 

Following his deployment, he was assigned to the U.S. Army Priority Air Transport detachment in Washington, D.C., where he served as a C-37A/B (Gulfstream V/550) flight engineer. As a UH60 crew chief and C-37A/B flight engineer, he amassed over 2,500 hours of non-rated crewmember flight hours. In 2012, he was accepted into the Army’s Green to Gold Active-Duty Option program with assignment at Arizona State University.

MAJ Vigeant was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in Aviation upon his graduation from Arizona State University in 2014. Upon commissioning, he moved to Fort Novosel, AL, to begin flight training. 

Following completion of flight school and the AH-64D Apache Helicopter qualification at Fort Novosel, MAJ Vigeant served as an Attack Platoon Leader and FUOPS planner at Fort Liberty, NC, in the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade. While at Fort Liberty, he led through and planned multiple combined arms exercises, including three JRTC rotations, multiple aerial gunnery exercises, and two BDE combined live-fire exercises (CALFEX) with 2nd BCT of the 82nd Airborne Division. 

In 2018, he was selected to attend the U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School. Upon graduation, MAJ Vigeant moved overseas with his family and served as the Assistant Operations Officer for 1-3 Attack Battalion in Ansbach, Germany. He was privileged to command in that same organization as the Charlie Company “Outcasts” company commander. During that time, MAJ Vigeant served as a Pilot-in-Command and Air Mission Commander who led multiple company and battalion deliberate attack missions in support of NATO deterrence and training objectives. 

MAJ Vigeant’s education includes the Airborne School, Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Aviation Officer Basic Course, SERE School, Flight School XXI and the AH64D Aircraft Qualification Course, Expeditionary Warfare School Captains Career Course, Fire Support Coordinators Course, and Company Commanders Course.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (8th award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd award), NCO Professional Development Award (2nd award), Parachutist Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge – Gold, and German Foreign Jump Wings.
