CPT(P) Leo Correa

CPT Leonel (Leo) A. Correa Jr. was born in Altamonte Springs, Florida on October 03, 1987. Upon graduation, CPT Correa enlisted in the U.S. Army Florida National Guard as a 31B (Military Police) and attended Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. In 2007, he enrolled into Marion Military Institute’s (MMI) Early Commissioning Program (ECP) and upon graduation he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2009. In 2011, CPT Correa graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice and transitioned from the Army National Guard to Active duty as an Air Defense Artillery Officer. He also holds a Master’s of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso.

Upon graduation of Air Defense Artillery Basic Officer Leaders Course (BOLC) in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, CPT Correa served as a Platoon Leader and Battalion Assistant Operations Officer/Battle Captain for the 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment in Kaiserslautern, Germany from 2012-2015, where he participated in Patriot to Poland (P2P), and deployed to Turkey in support of Operation Active Fence #2 from 2013 - 2014. CPT Correa attended the Air Defense Artillery Captain’s Career Course (CCC) in Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 2015. Following graduation, CPT Correa was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment in Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he served as an Assistant Operations Officer and Battery Commander for Charlie Battery when he deployed to United Arab of Emirates in support of Operation Spartan Shield from in 2017-2018. CPT Correa is currently serving as the Air Defense Artillery Branch Representative/Liaison Officer at the United States Military Academy (USMA).

CPT Correa’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2), the Army Basic Parachutist Badge and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).

CPT Correa’s Military education includes the U.S. Army Airborne School, Maintenance Leaders Course,
CBRN Defense Course, Combatives Level I, Combat Life Savers Course, Air Defense Basic Officer
Leadership Course, and the Air Defense Captain’s Career Course.

CPT Correa is married to the former Sarah Baaden and they have one child: Ellie.
