DMI’s mission is to educate and inspire the US Corps of Cadets in the essence of war-fighting and the Profession of Arms in order to develop future Army officers, all with the proper values, leadership skills, military skills, character, and warrior ethos to effectively lead America’s Soldiers.
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 (42 USC 4321-4347), 40 CFR Parts 1500-1508, the Department of Military Instruction, United States Military Academy, has completed a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) on the potential impacts associated with the establishment of a 155mm artillery firing point at the Lake Fredrick area near the south-west corner of West Point Garrison.
The firing point would be exclusively used for 155mm surface-to-surface artillery firing during the summer Combined Arms Live Fire (CALFEX). The intent of the proposed action is to enhance Cadet Summer Training opportunities at West Point and better familiarize Cadets with the role of a Lieutenant in combined arms maneuver operations.
