Originally hailing from Michigan, Drew enjoys analyzing multimodal texts (aka video games) as an Army West Point eSports (AWPE) Officer Representative, teaching composition and literature to plebes/cadet candidates, reading the latest Warhammer 40,000 lore, and spending time with his wife, Dr. Lizzy Paulson, and their cat, Salem. 

MAJ Paulson commissioned as an Armor Officer in 2013 from Norwich University. His past assignments include Cavalry Scout Platoon Leader and Troop Executive Officer in the 82nd Airborne Division and Squadron Signal Officer and Brigade Signal Company Commander in the 4th Infantry Division. MAJ Paulson deployed in support of Operations Inherent Resolve from January 2015 to September 2015. Following deployment, he attended Signal Captains Career Course from January 2017 to May 2017 and received the title of Honor Graduate. He was then assigned to the 4th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO and deployed to Europe in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve from August 2017 to October 2017. 

MAJ Paulson deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield from February 2019 to November 2019. He served as the Squadron Signal Officer (S6) of 4-10 CAV from June 2017 to April 2019. MAJ Paulson took command of Charlie Company, 588th BEB, 3ABCT, 4ID in April 2019 while deployed in support of Operation Spartan Shield. He served as the Brigade Signal Company Commander for 3ABCT, 4ID at Fort Carson, CO until June 2020. 

While attending graduate school at Western Michigan University, MAJ Paulson developed his master's thesis that examined Richard III, Othello, Macbeth, and Hamlet. He was also awarded the WMU English Department's Graduate Student Teaching Effectiveness Award for 2021-22.
