Biography
Lieutenant Colonel Annmarie Ruppert graduated from Siena College in 1999 and entered into the Chemical Corps. After completing the Chemical Officer Basic Course, she was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York, where she served as a Chemical Officer at the battalion and brigade levels in the 10th Aviation Brigade. She then transitioned to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where she served as a company executive officer, completed her Captain’s Career Course, and earned a masters degree in environmental management from Webster University. Upon assignment to Fort Hood, Texas, then-Captain Ruppert served in a series of assignments from Rear Detachment Chemical Officer for III Corps to company commander. While in command of Bravo Field Maintenance Company, she deployed to the Iraqi province of Diyala with the 3d Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division from 2006-2007 during the Surge. After completing her company command, then-Major Ruppert earned her masters degree in French Language and Literature from the University of Maryland at College Park and she served as an Instructor of French at West Point. Following her assignment to the United States Military Academy, she moved to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, where she served first as the Executive Officer to the I Corps G3 and then as the Operations Officer for the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, I Corps. Upon successful completion of her duties at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, then-Major Ruppert was selected to become an Academy Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages at the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 2018, she both returned to West Point to fulfill her duties as an Academy Professor and earned her doctorate in Modern French Studies from the University of Maryland at College Park. Lieutenant Colonel Ruppert’s awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Lieutenant Colonel Ruppert lives with her family at West Point, New York.
