Biography
MAJ Richard Jordan commissioned in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after graduating from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Geological Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
Major Jordan assumed duties as an Instructor of German in the Department of Foreign Languages in July 2021. Prior to joining the United States Military Academy at West Point, he served as the Executive Officer of the 40th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas.
His military training and education include the Mechanized (Bradley) Leader’s Course, Army Engineer Officer Basic and Captains Career Courses, and the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces General and Admiral Staff College – National; Hamburg, Germany).
His previous key assignments include: Operations Officer (S3) for 40th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division (Fort Bliss, Texas); Project Engineer, Ft. Worth District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Fort Polk, Louisiana); Commander, 984th Engineer Company, 92nd Engineer Battalion (Fort Stewart, Georgia); Commander, 243rd Engineer Detachment, 18th Engineer Brigade (Heidelberg, Germany); Platoon Leader, 54th Engineer Battalion (Grafenwöhr, Germany). MAJ Jordan has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom (Iraq), Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), and Spartan Shield (Kuwait).
MAJ Jordan’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
