Environmental Engineering is the application of engineering principles to improve and maintain the environment for the protection of human health and at-risk ecosystems. In the past, environmental engineers worked to provide clean drinking water, safely manage wastes, and clean the air we breathe.  Today, environmental engineers still do all that, but, with more intensive land and resource usage, environmental engineers also work to clean up past pollution, integrate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop alternate energy sources, and more.
Notable Points about an EV Engineering Major:
  • The West Point Environmental Engineering Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,
  • You will be on track for licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) with the successful completion of this major.
  • You may earn an Army Additional Skill Identifier (N4) as an Environmental Engineer upon commissioning.
  • This major prepares you to identify and address infrastructure needs and environmental policy shortfalls at home and overseas.
  • We have an honors program for cadets with high GPAs who want to do their own research.
