Jeffrey D. Peterson serves as the Senior Advisor for Character Integration to the Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy. He served on active duty in the United States Army for 28 years in various leadership and staff positions in the United States, Korea, Cuba, and the Middle East to include a combat battalion command during “the surge” in Iraq. After command, he served as the director of West Point’s economics program from 2008-15. In 2012, then-Colonel Peterson also served as the Director, Center for the Army Profession and Ethic (CAPE) where he led the effort to publish the Army’s first doctrinal manual on the Army Profession and Ethic.  As the Chair for the Study of Officership at WestPoint from 2015 - 2021, he stewarded the West Point Superintendent’s capstone course on Officership, designed character and leader development programs, and advised senior academy leaders on the state of West Point’s Honor System. As the Senior Advisor for Character Integration, he supports USMA’s effort to better integrate character development across the West Point Leader Development System (WPLDS) to ensure our graduates lead honorably, live honorably, and demonstrate excellence.
