Biography


Brian W. Song is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. In his civilian practice, Brian is a Partner in the New York office of BakerHostetler LLP.  He has broad experience as a general commercial litigator but focuses his practice on securities litigation and white collar criminal defense.   

Brian began his military career on active duty where he served as an Assistant Counsel for Legislation, Fiscal and General Law with the Chief Counsel’s Office, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Prior to joining the Department of Law, Brian served as the Regional Defense Counsel for the West Region, 22d Legal Operations Detachment, U.S. Army Trial Defense Service, U.S. Army Reserve Legal Command. His other prior duty assignments in the United States Army Reserve include serving as a Team Chief with the 3d Legal Operations Detachment, U.S. Army Legal Command; Defense Appellate Counsel in the Defense Appellate Division, U.S. Army Legal Services Agency; Litigation Attorney, Military Personnel Branch, Litigation Division, U.S. Army Legal Services Agency; and, as an Adjunct Professor in the Contract and Fiscal Law Department at the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School.

Brian received his B.A. from the Johns Hopkins University on a four-year ROTC scholarship and his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law.  He also received an L.L.M. in Securities Law and Financial Regulation with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center.
