Biography
Victor Antonio “Tony” Dunlop is a Captain in the United States Army Reserves, serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law, and is from Queens, New York. CPT Dunlop enlisted as an Armor Crewman and served with the 2nd Battalion 32nd Armor under the 1st Armored Division in Giessen, Germany from 1990-1993. CPT Dunlop earned a B.A. from LeMoyne College in 1998, majoring in Philosophy and double minoring in History and Theology, and a J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University in 2002. Upon graduation, CPT Dunlop worked as an associate attorney with Universal Records-Island Def Jam in business and legal affairs, where he negotiated recording and publishing agreements. In 2005, CPT Dunlop joined a boutique law firm in Brooklyn, NY, where he practiced intellectual property and civil rights litigation and criminal defense. The firm represented notable clients in the music, film, and fashion industries, and defended and fought for the rights of countless individuals in response to New York’s Stop and Frisk policy in state and federal courts. In 2017, CPT Dunlop direct commissioned and joined the 4th Legal Operations Detachment in Brooklyn, NY as a Legal Assistance Attorney, while maintaining a civilian practice. Between 2017 and 2020, CPT Dunlop performed Additional Training at Camp Parks, CA completing the Master Resiliency Course, served with the 7th Army Training Command in Hohenfels, Germany as a Military Justice Attorney, served in West Point’s OSJA as an Administrative Law Attorney, and provided legal assistance during Soldiers’ Readiness Processing in Pittsburgh, PA, JBMDL, NJ, Fort Meade, MD, and Fort Hamilton, NY. Prior to mobilizing to West Point in 2020, CPT Dunlop’s represented the 4th Legal Operations Detachment on special assignment for several months at the Jacobs Javitz Center in New York, NY providing legal services to Servicemembers and civilian contractors in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. CPT Dunlop’s son, Kameron, serves as his overall inspiration and motivation.
