Liam Sullivan is a Foreign Service Office with the U.S. Department of State, most recently serving as senior Economic Officer at Embassy Sofia, Bulgaria. Prior tours include Croatia Desk Officer within the Office of South Central European Affairs, senior Economic Officer at Embassy Bratislava, Slovakia, where his portfolio included economic development, energy, and trade issues, and rule of law officer at Embassy Bucharest, Romania, where he reported on internal politics and worked to promote transparency and legal reform. His first tour was in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he served in the consular and public affairs sections. He has been recognized by the Department for his work promoting U.S. – EU relations and European energy security.
Liam is from Holyoke, Massachusetts, and is a liberal arts graduate of Georgetown University. After a decade working in information technology and management consulting, Liam earned his Master’s Degree in international policy and economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), focusing on energy and environmental issues.
Liam is joined at West Point by his wife Meghan, and journalist, daughter Harper, and son Shea.
