Biography
A native of Bay City, Michigan, MAJ Eric Reder began his military career in 2013 after graduating from the United States Military Academy with a B.S. in Economics. He commissioned as an Ordnance Officer and attended the Basic Officer’s Leaders Course (BOLC) at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA.
After BOLC, he was assigned to the 299th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas. There, he served as the Maintenance Platoon Leader in the Forward Support Company for 1-63AR Battalion. Next, he served as a Maintenance Control Officer for the 82nd Engineer Battalion where he deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Following his deployment to Kuwait, he attended the Logistics Captain’s Career Course at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA. Afterwards, he was assigned to the S3 Section for the 53rd Movement Control Battalion at Fort Eustis, VA and deployed to Poland in support of the Atlantic Resolve Joint Operational Area.
MAJ Reder commanded the 558th Transportation Company in the 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) at Fort Eustis, VA for 16 months prior to attending graduate school at the University of Michigan. He graduated with an M.S. in Applied Statistics and arrived to West Point in the summer of 2022. He has taught MA206: Probability and Statistics and MA256: Advanced Probability and Statistics. MAJ Reder is the current course director of MA206.
MAJ Reder is married to Maggie and has 7-year old twin daughters, a 4-year old son, and two dogs.
