The U.S. Military Academy hosted a Women's Equality Day Observance Aug. 26 at the West Point Club.

The observance recognizes that Women's Equality Day was established by a Joint Resolution of Congress in 1971.

The day is observed every Aug. 26 and commemorates the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which gave women the right to vote.

The observance has grown to include focusing attention on womenʼs continued efforts toward gaining full equality.

The guest speaker was Michele S. Jones (above), who is a sought-after motivational speaker, a former command sergeant major of the U.S. Army Reserves and former member of the Senior Executive Services as a special assistant to the Secretary of Defense White House Liaison.

Jones is currently vice president of training of Civility Management Solutions and president and CEO of The Bones Theory Group LLC.
