Biography
CPT Richard Calvin commissioned into the Ordnance Corps from the United States Military Academy in 2014. He holds a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from USMA and a M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. His thesis was entitled “Examination of Hypothetical Transportation Accidents for Transportable Nuclear Power Plants.”
After completing Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school in 2015, CPT Calvin served as a platoon leader in the 74th Ordnance Company (EOD) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He also served as the Deputy Secretary of the General Staff for the 8th Theater Sustainment Command at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Following the Logistics Captains Career Course, he served as the commander for the 756th Ordnance Company (EOD) at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Post command, CPT Calvin served as the Operations Officer for Weapons of Mass Destruction Coordination Team – 2 at the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiation, Nuclear, and Explosives Command at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.
CPT Calvin currently serves as a PH201, Physics 1, instructor and as an Officer Representative for the Rifle Team at the United States Military Academy. He is now a Nuclear and Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction Officer (Functional Area 52).
CPT Calvin married Ashley Calvin in 2015 and they have two children, Mason and Emilia.
