Biography
LTC(R) James (Jim) Walker is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the United States Military Academy, serving as the Finance discipline Concentration Director and Department Budget Officer. Jim was a member of the United States Army Reserve (deploying for Operation Desert Storm) while attending Purdue University, where he received his commission as a Military Police Officer in 1994. His operational career included numerous combat support, law enforcement and security assignments throughout the world, including Korea, Germany, Johnston Atoll, Kuwait and three tours to Afghanistan. Jim served as a SOSH rotating faculty member from 2004-2006, followed by a FA59 fellow to the University of Maryland’s Center for International and Security Studies (CISSM). He culminated his career commanding a tactical Military Police battalion, the 95th MP Battalion, in Germany, retiring shortly after in 2015. Jim earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University (2004), an MA from Webster University in St. Louis (2004), and is a Certified Financial PlannerTM (2023). He is married to COL(R) Ava Huchun, MD, an Ophthalmologist working in NJ. They have two children, ages 20 and 14.
