Office of Research
Colonel McCoy is a 2001 graduate of the U.S. Military where he majored in civil engineering. He was commissioned an engineer officer and later spent 8.5 years as an infantry officer. He has served in a variety of assignments in engineer and infantry units with his most recent operational assignment as the Brigade Executive Officer of 2nd Armored Brigade and Commander of the Brigade’s Rear-Detachment (Dagger Mission Command Element-Riley), at Fort Riley, KS.
Colonel McCoy served in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering from 2011-2014 and again rejoined the faculty in 2019. As the Associate Dean for Research, he leads the Academy’s Academic Research Division and is the Dean’s lead for all research engagements while managing and synchronizing resources across the research enterprise at the Academy.
Colonel McCoy teaches in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering and has research experience in concrete materials, construction, sustainable infrastructure development, and engineering education. He also serves on ASCE’s Committee on Sustainability and is the Chair for ASCE’s Sustainable Infrastructure Development Standard Committee.
