COL Brad McCoy is an associate professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the United States Military Academy (USMA). He is also associate dean for research for the Office of Research and USMA dean's staff.
He graduated from USMA in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He was commissioned as an engineer officer and later spent 8½ years as an infantry officer. COL McCoy has served in a variety of assignments in engineer and infantry units, with his most recent operational assignment as brigade executive officer of the 2nd Armored Brigade and commander of the brigade’s rear detachment (Dagger Mission Command Element-Riley) at Fort Riley, Kansas.
COL McCoy served in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (now CEE) from 2011-2014 and rejoined the faculty in 2019. As associate dean for research, he leads the academy’s academic research division and serves as the dean’s lead for all research engagements while managing and synchronizing resources across the research enterprise at the academy.
COL McCoy teaches in CEE and has research experience in concrete materials, construction, sustainable infrastructure development and engineering education. He also serves on the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Committee on Sustainability and is chair of ASCE’s Sustainable Infrastructure Development Standard Committee.
