MAJ Stroup is from Mathews, Virginia and Commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in 2014 from Virginia Commonwealth University. He currently serves as the MST 100 Cell Chief in the Department of Military Science.
His previous assignments include Company TAC Officer for company F3 at the United States Military Academy, Company Commander of HHC, 2-327IN (No Slack), Battalion Fire Support Officer, and Battalion S4 in 1BCT, 101st ABN DIV, Company Fire Support Officer and Platoon Leader in 2SBCT, 2ID JBLM, and Platoon Leader in 1-38 FA, 210th FAB, 2ID, Korea. MAJ Stroup's operational deployments include Operation Inherent Resolve (2018-2019) where he served as a Battalion S4 for 2-32 FA, 1BCT, 101st ABN DIV.
MAJ Stroup is a graduate of the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course, Captains Career Course, Joint Firepower Control Course, and the Joint Fires Observer Course. MAJ Stroup holds a Masters in Social-Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, a Masters in Management and Leadership from Webster University, and a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Medal. Additionally, MAJ Stroup has been awarded the Expert Soldier Badge and Air Assault Badge. MAJ Stroup is a member of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara and Saint Maurice.
Cody is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children.
