LTC David Stamps was commissioned into the U.S. Army from the University of Tennessee – Martin in 2007. As an Aviation Officer, he served with 3rd Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, and 1st Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. 

He transferred to the Space Operations functional area in 2014 and served in various positions across the Army and Joint Space community including, 1st Space Brigade, the National Space Defense Center-Joint Task Force Space Defense, and U.S. Space Command. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science degree from the University of Tennessee. His military education includes the Initial Entry Rotary Wing Aviator Course, AH-64D and AH-64E Aircraft Qualification, Army Command and General staff College, and various space qualifications.

LTC Stamps’ awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Air Medal (2 Awards), Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal (ISAF), Combat Action Badge, Army Aviator Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Army Master Space Badge. 

He is married to Paula Stamps, and they are the proud parents of three children.
