CPT Derek Swanson

CPT Derek Swanson is a Field Artillery Officer and an Instructor in the Department of Systems Engineering. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the United States Military Academy in 2016 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Duke Fuqua School of Business in 2024.

Derek commissioned as an Artillery Officer in May 2016. He served as a Fire Support Officer, Fire Direction Officer, and Battery Executive Officer while assigned to 3-7 FA, 3rd BDE, 25ID in Schofield Barracks, HI, completing numerous multinational operations. After completing the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course, he commanded the Northern Iowa Recruiting Company based out of Waterloo, IA.

Derek is married to Jenna Swanson. They have one son, Beckett.
