SGT 1st Class Adam L. Potter is a tactical non-commissioned officer (TAC NCO) with Charlie Company, Battalion Tactical Department, at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) at West Point.

The Mansfield, Pennsylvania, native enlisted in the Army through the Delayed Entry Program in March 2006. He attended Infantry One Station Unit Training from May to September 2006 at Fort Benning, Georgia. 

SFC Potter has served as an infantry rifleman, grenadier, unit armorer, team leader, squad leader, weapons squad leader, drill sergeant, senior drill sergeant, IBCT platoon sergeant, assault platoon sergeant, division G-3 operations sergeant (battle NCO), rear-d company first sergeant and TAC NCO at the United States Military Academy.

His stateside assignments include Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Fort Drum, New York; Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; and West Point, New York. He has deployed three times to Afghanistan and Iraq.

SFC Potter’s military education includes Airborne School, Air Assault School, Combat Lifesaver Course, Unit Armorer Course, Unit Prevention Leader Course, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Maneuver Senior Leader Course, Basic Combatives Course, Tactical Combatives Course, Drill Sergeant School, Basic Instructor Course, Anti-Terrorism Officer Basic Course, Master Resilience Training Course and FBCB2 Leader OpNet certification.

Potter’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (fifth award), Army Achievement Medal (eighth award), Army Good Conduct Medal (fifth award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (third award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal (Afghanistan), Certificate of Achievement (second award), Drill Sergeant Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and Valorous Unit Award.
