MAJ Alexander Bates

MAJ Alexander Bates is an instructor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York. He teaches the department's advanced math program.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in operations research from USMA in 2014 and was commissioned as an aviation officer. After commissioning, he branch transferred to quartermaster and served as a distribution platoon leader, maintenance control officer, Battalion S4, and company executive officer in 2-87 IN BN, 10th MTN DIV. After completing the Logistics Captains Career Course, he served as a Battalion S-3 and Forward Support Company commander in the 82nd ABN DIV. 

MAJ Bates completed graduate school at North Carolina State University in 2023.
