MAJ Edmundo Nicolas

MAJ Edmundo (Ed) Nicolas is an instructor in the Department of Geography & Earth Sciences at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. He teaches Physical Geography (EV203) and Geography of Latin America (EV373).
He is an attorney general (AG) officer with experience as a branch-detailed infantry officer. In that role, he served as a brigade and battalion S-1/adjutant with the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, stationed in Ansbach, Germany. As an infantry officer, he served in positions of increasing responsibility within the 7th Infantry Division as the executive officer for the Headquarters Support Company and rifle platoon leader with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, part of the 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team.
In 2010, MAJ Nicolas deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan, as an enlisted U.S. Air Force member working with Security Forces.
He is a human geographer, and his research interests include political ecology, community resilience, environmental justice, disaster risk reduction, cultural geography, military geography, urbanization, and future cities.
