LTC Jeff Gibbons is an associate professor in the Department of English & World Languages at the United States Military Academy. His primary scholarly interest is in Asian American literature, with a particular focus on how contemporary Asian American writers reflect upon and depict war, trauma, and modes of healing in post-war lives.

At West Point, he teaches introductory composition and literature, as well as several courses within the English major, including "Contemporary Literature, Special Topics - Asian American Literature, Single-Author Colloquium - Toni Morrison, and EN400." As a professor, LTC Gibbons values the opportunity to challenge cadets to think critically and carefully about the nation and world they are preparing to serve, while also encouraging them to cultivate empathy for those whose experiences differ from their own.

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, LTC Gibbons describes himself as a displaced Buckeye of more than 20 years. His doctoral work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill also made him a proud Tar Heel.

Outside the classroom, he and his wife enjoy the outdoors, music, good food, and travel. One of his lifelong intellectual escapes is immersing himself in the works of Robert Hunter, John Perry Barlow, and Robert Peterson.
