Dr. Kraig Sheetz is the Vice Dean for Engagement and Research at the United States Military Academy. Prior to assuming his current role, he served as Executive Vice President and Dean of the School of Natural Science and Mathematics at Mount St. Mary’s University from 2018-23.
In 2018, Kraig retired from active duty after more than 28 years in the United States Army. Early in his Army career, he served as a tactical military intelligence officer but spent the second half of his career at the United States Military Academy where he was an academy professor in the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Director of the Dean’s Staff and Vice Dean for Operations.
He holds a B.S. in geophysics from Millersville University, a M.S. in geophysics from New Mexico Tech, a M.S. in applied physics from The Naval Postgraduate School, and a Ph.D. in applied physics from the Colorado School of Mines. His research interests are ultra-short pulse laser design and the development of femtosecond laser-based nonlinear microscopy systems.
