Protocol Office
The role of this office is to provide support and guidance for every aspect of both protocol and etiquette for the United States Military Academy (USMA), its Superintendent, and for all subordinate directorates.
Proper protocol includes etiquette, which “encompasses the body of manners and forms prescribed by custom, usage, or authority. It is accepted as correct behavior when people deal with one another. Etiquette preserves respect for the rights and dignities of others. In short, etiquette represents good manners.” Each year, USMA hosts hundreds of visiting dignitaries, including heads of state, high-level government officials, and military leadership. The Protocol Office ensures the main purpose of every event or visit remains the focus without unnecessary distractions caused by breaches of protocol.
