CPT Frank C. Ofner is the Center of Military History’s U.S. Army Reserve “scholar in residence” at the United States Military Academy. He is also an instructor in the Department of History & War Studies at West Point.
He received his commission through ROTC in 2013 after serving as an Simultaneous Membership Program cadet in the New Jersey Army National Guard.
CPT Ofner has held a variety of roles at the strategic and tactical levels. He was the battalion S-2 of the he served as a counterintelligence officer for EUCOM ARE DET 6 out of Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, and was then selected to become J-2X deputy section chief.
Most recently, from 2024 to 2025, he was the OIC of the 311th Military History Detachment during a mobilization in support of USAREUR-AF Operation European Assure, Deter and Reinforce in Poland and Latvia.
