CPT Gus Cunningham, hailing from a long line of military service, proudly calls San Antonio, Texas his home. His first duty station was Fort Carson, CO where he served with 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. He held the position of Tank Platoon Leader. He deployed to Qatar in support of Operation Spartan Shield in 2015 and Romania in support of Atlantic Resolve in 2017. Following Fort Carson, CPT Cunningham moved to Fort Moore, GA, where he served as the Executive Officer for HHC/A CO, 1st Battalion, 81st Armor Regiment, 194th Armored Brigade. Following MCCC, CPT Cunningham was a 19D OSUT Commander for Blackjack Troop, 5th Squadron, 15th Cavalry Regiment. Following Command, CPT Cunningham was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, TX. He served as a BDE CUOPS Planner before deploying to Camp Hovey, South Korea. While in South Korea, CPT Cunningham was assigned the SQDN S4 for the 2nd Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, 3-1 AD before taking a second command with Damage Troop, 2-13 CAV. He is married to his wife Abby and their three daughters, Saniah, Capri, and London.
