Major Jared Helle earned his commission as an Engineer Officer from the United States Military Academy in 2009 with a B.S. in Systems Engineering. From 2010 to 2013, he served as a Sapper Platoon Leader and Executive Officer in the 591st Engineer Company, Fort Campbell, KY, deploying to Iraq in support of Operation NEW DAWN. Following completion of Special Forces training at Fort Bragg, NC, Jared was assigned to A-1/5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, KY. From 2015 to 2019, Jared served as the Detachment Commander for SFOD-A's 5114 and 5116, Troop 2 Commander, and Company Executive Officer. He deployed to the CENTCOM AOR multiple times in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. In 2019, Jared attended the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA, where he completed his JPME I and graduated with a M.S. in Defense Analysis (Irregular Warfare). In 2021, he returned to 1/5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), where he served as a Battalion Operations Officer and Company Commander. He currently serves in the Defense and Strategic Studies program as the DSS Deputy Director and as a course director for several DSS courses. Jared’s military schools include the Special Forces Qualification Course, Ranger School, Sapper School, Special Forces Advanced Reconnaissance, Target Analysis, and Exploitation Techniques Course (SFARTAETC), Military Free Fall Parachutist Course, Pathfinder School, Airborne School, and Air Assault School. Jared is married to the wonderful Erin Helle of Buffalo, NY. They have two amazing daughters, Blake (8) and Carly (5).
