MAJ(R) Jeffrey Buchheim is originally from Runnemede, NJ. He enlisted in the Army in August of 2000 and an Infantryman. Jeff spent his first 10 years of enlistment serving in 3rd Ranger Regiment, 1st Styker Brigade Combat Team 25th ID, and 4th Ranger Training Battalion. While enlisted Jeff deployed to Iraq from OCT 2004 – OCT 2005 and took part in operations in: Baghdad, Falluja, Mosul, and Tal Afar. He switched over from enlisted to officer under The Degree Completion Program. Upon being selected to attend Officer Candidate School, Jeff completed his duties as a Ranger Instructor in 2009 and moved down the road on Fort Benning to OCS. Upon completing IOBC Jeff was assigned to 1st ID, 3rd BCT, Fort Knox, KY. Once Jeff arrived at his new unit, he was assigned to 2-2IN, and his first assignment was as the executive officer in B Co and deployed to AFG. While deployed to AFG Jeff served as the Executive Officer and then took 3rd PLT, which was the only PLT in the BDE with a PLT outpost in Andar subdistrict Ghazni Providence. Upon completion of his 2011-2012 deployment his family PCS back to Fort Benning for Jeff to complete his degree at Columbus State University in Criminal Justice. Jeff completed his B.S. in a year and 6 months. Jeff was delayed for the CCC so IN branch assigned him to 1-50IN REG where Jeff took command of D Co and transformed civilians into the Army’s newest Infantrymen. After command Jeff then completed the Maneuver Captains Career Course. While in the CCC Jeff was one of 10 officers selected to get a M.S. in Organizational Leadership at Columbus State University at nights. Upon completion of the CCC and his masters, Jeff then was assigned to the 196th IN BDE as a plans officer in the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Capability group. Jeff then left and went to 3rd BDE 25th ID, BED as an AS3. Only 3 months after becoming the AS3 Jeff was chosen to be the Commander of C Co 2-35IN BN. Jeff served as the CDR for 18 months and was then selected to be the BDE AS3 for 3rd BDE 25th ID. Not long after taking the new position as BDE AS3 the CG for 25th ID selected him to attend the Grade 2 staff and Tactics course in New Zealand. Jeff retired after 21 years of service to the Army.
