Major John Korban, a graduate of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Physics, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry branch in May 2012. His first assignment was with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck, Germany, which included a training exercise in Latvia supporting Operation Atlantic Resolve and a deployment to Egypt supporting the Multinational Forces and Observers mission. He later transitioned to the Civil Affairs branch and served as a team commander in the Arabian Peninsula. 

MAJ Korban holds a master’s from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Arab Studies (2024).
