John Palmer

John Palmer is an assistant professor and sports medicine director in the Department of Physical Education (DPE) at West Point. He teaches multiple DPE courses and is the course director for PE258: Soccer.

Originally from Marblehead, Massachusetts, he graduated from Plymouth State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education with concentrations in athletic training and coaching. Mr. Palmer served as the athletic trainer at Terre Haute North High School while earning his Master of Science in athletic training from Indiana State University in 1996. 

Mr. Palmer spent 10 years working for Valley Hospital and Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, before joining the United States Military Academy. In 2011, he joined the DPE sports medicine staff in a dual instructor and athletic training role. In 2016, he was named director of sports medicine, and in 2023, Mr. Palmer was promoted to assistant professor.
