LTC Lolita Burrell began her military career at the Army Medical Department Officer Basic Course at Fort Sam Houston, Texas where she was commissioned as a Captain in the Medical Service Corps. Prior to entering active duty LTC Burrell completed her baccalaureate education (B.S.) at Delaware State University and earned her Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Medical Psychology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. From 1999- 2003, LTC Burrell served as a research psychologist at The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research where she studied Soldier and Family health and readiness issues. From 2003- 2007 she served as the Chief of the Medical Research Unit for The United States Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine at their satellite facility at Fort Bragg. Following these 2 assignments she served as faculty member in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership from 2007-2012 at The United States Army Military Academy. LTC Burrell was a member of the Joint Mental Health Advisory Team-8 prior to her assignment as the Deputy Director of the Plans, Programs, Analysis and Evaluation Directorate at The United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. LTC Burrell currently serves as an Academy and Associate Professor at The United States Army Military Academy. LTC Burrell has completed the Army Medical Department Basic and Officer Advanced Courses, the Combined Armed Services and staff School, and Intermediate Level Education. She is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps and is Level 3 Acquisition certified in Science and Technology Management and Level 1 certified in Program Management. She also has a certificate for training in Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management.
